How To Apply

Project Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Only nonprofit organizations are able to apply. Zoo’s and Aquaria can represent or work with these organizations but funds will be given to NGO’s
  • Projects should contribute to the conservation of native animal species and their habitats and should include the people living in those communities. The project should demonstrate a clear conservation action and sustainable development
  • If research (basic or applied) with native animal species is being conducted ex-situ, that will benefit directly in situ work, may be considered as a potential project for funding (e.g. Universities).
  • Projects should have clear expectations and goals, measurable at the end.
  • Projects should have strong education programs – community participation is required.
  • Interested organizations should fill an application request. LAZAC FOUNDATION will assess the request and invite them to apply based on merit.
  • The size of the grants provided by LAZAC will be up to $20,000.00 per project. We expect the projects to also have other sources of funding. The amounts may go up in the future.
  • The grant money will be used mainly to support the project, including materials– overhead cost should not surpass 10 percent of the total cost and should be described in detail (e.g. salaries, benefits). Travelling, is supported for personnel working on the project.
  • Projects will be assessed in situ by LAZAC FOUNDATION specialists. Visits will be announced ahead of time working with the local NGO’s

Who Should Apply

Eager non-profit organizations or individuals with a vision for helping wildlife and habitats in South America and a vision for changing the way conservation is addressed through partnerships with local communities. Applicants should be dedicated and committed to the work they are representing.

Invitation to Apply:

Interested organizations should send a letter of intent of no more than one page or 250 words explaining the reasons why their project should be considered for support. Please refer to the project eligibility and requirements section. LAZAC FOUNDATION INC will assess the request and officially invite them to apply based on merit of the project.
